Interior inspiration: modern boho

Interior inspiration: modern boho

I’ve been noticing a slight shift in my taste lately. I found myself a couple days ago saying to Andy, “I’m really into neutral spaces right now”… and then I went, “whoa, three years ago me never would have dreamed of saying that!” There’s a trend right now towards lighter, brighter, more open spaces that just feels so fresh, comfortable and current. This “modern bohemian” style is characterized by warm white walls, light-colored woods and soft textiles. It speaks to my love of simple, clean lines and has a very casual, beachy, almost 1970s-without-the-avocado-appliances feel to it that I love so much.

It all started when I saw this house tour on A Cup of Jo. The entire Davis, California home absolutely epitomizes the modern boho style to me, and I’m ready to move in today.

Here are a few more examples of this style that I’ve been drawn to lately.

Here’s a few ideas to bring this modern boho style home.

It’s probably no coincidence that almost all of these spaces are in California. I feel like you could almost call this “California style.”

What do you think? Do you like this trend and would it work for your house? I’ll never give up my love of candy colors, and we’ve learned that they work best with all the dark wood in our old Victorian house. However, I can certainly see us adding some of these design elements to give our house a lighter, more casual feel.
