The colors of our life
The other day I mentioned that we’re nothing if not consistent when it comes to paint colors in our house. Every time we buy paint, we find ourselves gravitating towards gray, teal and yellow. It’s almost a joke at this point, but it works for us! So I thought it would be fun to take a look at all of the colors we’ve chosen so far.
* these are the rooms we’re actually planning on repainting soon.
living room: “Irresistible” Sherwin-Williams 6562 — I love the pink in here but it’s a little too bright. I’m not sure if we’re going to choose a new shade of pink since it is so much fun or if we’re going to do something completely different.
dining room: “Blue Horizon” Sherwin-Williams 6497
rumpus room: “Reflecting Pool” Sherwin-Williams 6486 — we’re planning on repainting this room a lighter color, probably something that’s a mix between the dining room and master bathroom.
downstairs bathroom: “Serious Gray” Sherwin-Williams 6256 — and this reminds me that we somehow never showed you the final bathroom pictures! Whaaaaat???!!!! Watch for that next week!
kitchen/pantry/hallway: “Seashell Gray” Valspar 4003-1A
entry/stairway/upstairs hallway: “Optimistic Yellow” Sherwin-Williams 6900 — we’re thinking about repainting the entry white. Shocking, I know! White paint hasn’t been our thing up until this point, but with our entry/stair/upstairs hallway being a HUGE area of our home, there’s a little too much yellow. We want to break it up a little and white makes the most sense.
master bathroom: “Sprinkle” Valspar 5008-9A
master bedroom: “Evening Shadow” Sherwin-Williams 7662
All the painted trim throughout the house is off-the-shelf Behr semi-gloss in “Ultra Pure White” and all of the ceilings are Behr flat white ceiling paint.
When we first moved into this house, I think we wanted every room to be a really bold, different color than the rooms around it, just because the novelty of being able to do whatever we wanted was so fun. But now we’re systematically repainting all of those rooms to have a lighter, more unified color palette. It feels calmer, more pleasant, and more put together to see the same colors being repeated from room to room. Plus, teal and yellow are just so great, right?!
What do you think? Do you tend to gravitate towards the same colors when you paint? Do you have a favorite color that you find yourself reaching for every time?
And now… I have some painting to do. Seriously, I’m in the middle of painting the pantry walls. It’s looking really good in there!
