Get the Look: Modern Coastal Style
You guys know I love color, but it’s probably not quite as obvious that I love neutrals just as much. Sometimes I swing more one way or another, and right now I’m definitely swinging hard towards neutrals. Usually in Spring I want all the colors after a long, grey winter, but this year I just want to surround myself with the palest shades that remind me of warm, sunny days at the beach. Sigh. I just love the calm, clean look of coastal- or beach-inspired decor, especially if it stays minimal, with natural-fiber rugs, warm woods, a touch of blue accessories, and of course lots of white walls. Think East Coast preppy without the anchors, West Coast casual without the surfboards, or in our case, North Coast whatever we want it to be! (we do live a few blocks from the beaches of Lake Erie after all!)
Here are some examples of neutral rooms that got it just right and then scroll to the bottom to see how to get the look for yourself:

Here’s how to get the look for your own home:
rattan mirror, Target; seagrass basket, Leif; linen pillow cover, H&M;
striped linen pillow cover, H&M; diamond-pattern jute rug, Target;
“Storm Swell” print by Kamala Nahas, Minted for West Elm
H&M has the best, inexpensive pillow covers, by the way. That striped linen one with the little buttons is just so cute.
So what do you think? Are you on the neutral train or do you find it too boring? Do you like to redecorate seasonally like I do, even if it’s just changing your throw pillows?
