Hello There, October!

Whoa, it’s October already! September just flew by, since we spent the first half of it traveling around Europe … and the second half of it recovering from our travels around Europe! But our post-vacation hangover is over and we’re back to work on quite a few projects around the house. October is going to be a good month. It’s probably my favorite month of the whole year because I get to go to the apple orchard AND pick pumpkins AND plan a party AND get dressed up for Halloween — all my favorite things!

Oh, and the other big news right now… I got a job! Well, technically I’m an intern. Like, I’m totally Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in The Internship.

I’m helping the girls from Something White with the marketing and planning of their really awesome bridal show, Boutique Bridal Bazaar. I get to work one afternoon a week, doing things like web site design, social media, even crafting. I wasn’t really looking for a job, but when I saw their call for help, I knew it was totally perfect for me. I love the opportunity to get out of the house a little bit, meet new people, learn new things, and have some fun doing it! I’m really excited. Plus I get to look at wedding dresses every time I go to work. Um, it’s amazing.

So what’s on our to-do list for this month?

+ Finish exterior house painting. We’re not actually doing this ourselves, thank goodness, but our painter guy is working hard on prepping everything now, which means lots of sanding and smoothing and priming, trying to get it all done before winter comes. We finally all agreed on colors, yippee! Now we just have neighbor drama to deal with. Sigh.

+ Paint the office. This one is MUCH easier. The color is picked, the walls are patched and I’ll probably start painting next week. No neighbors involved, yay!

+ Move furniture back into the office. You guys should see our guest room right now. It’s full of all the office furniture AND guest room furniture. Ok, wait. Maybe you shouldn’t see it. It’s embarrassing.

+ Finish coffee table project. Seriously. This silly little project has been going on for like 4 months and I’m sick of it. Hopefully you’ll see that finished very soon.

+ Build new storage credenza for the rumpus room. I’m excited about this one. We’ll go into a lot more detail later, but I think it’s going to be kind of great when it’s done.

+ Decorate for our Halloween party. Yay! Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love costumes and pumpkins and candy. It’s better than Christmas.

Except I have no idea what we’re going to wear, so…

+ Decide on Halloween costumes! Andy is threatening to not dress up, so we need to come up with a good idea stat. Any suggestions?

So what are you planning for this month? Just make sure you put apple orchards and pumpkin patches on your to-do list, ok? I recommend Sage’s in Chardon, Ohio, which has the best apples and a cute little market. Have a happy October, friends!
