The greatest masquerade on earth
My best friend Shana and I have a longstanding tradition of celebrating Halloween together. It’s probably, hands down, our favorite holiday. We spend weeks or even months thinking about costumes, and then when we’re really lucky, we get to spend it together. This year Andy and I drove up to Detroit to spend the weekend with her and her boyfriend, and to go to Theatre Bizarre, The Greatest Masquerade on Earth, which is basically the largest, most elaborate party you’ll ever go to with the best costumes and craziest stunts, and 4000 of your closest friends. It takes place at the really impressive and always-creepy Masonic Temple, and we had a great time.
One of the traditions of Halloween with me and Shana is pictures at The Tiger. It started many years ago when we found ourselves in the neighborhood and decided, why not stop in front of the giant Tiger at Comerica Park and take some pictures in the middle of the night?! And now we do it every time I’m in town. Here’s this year’s pictures, featuring Miss Piggy in Space, the Count, a soda jerk, an ice cream cone, and of course, The Tiger.
