Inspiration: Think (Hot) Pink

Inspiration: Think (Hot) Pink

It all started when I saw this nursery with the hottest hot pink walls and a gold ceiling. Seriously, a gold ceiling! That light fixture! The neon sign! This room’s what started my current love affair with hot pink. It’s no secret that lately I’ve been wanting to paint everything in my life white, but I will always, always find inspiration in color. Really bright color.

Hot pink is one of the most intimidating colors to decorate with and can be really hard to pull off. It’s SO girly. It’s SO bright. It can be SO preteen. It’s just so PINK. That room above is an extreme example of decorating with hot pink that many of us may not want in our own homes (and if you do, you’re awesome), but when tempered with heavy doses of white or used as an accent — a rug, some throw pillows, a painted wooden chair — hot pink can actually be a really livable color, even in a house that boys live in. As far as I’m concerned, there’s just no way you can be bored or boring in a hot pink room.

Here’s some other spaces that haven’t shied away from using hot pink, in more subtle, but still equally awesome, ways…

Here’s some fun ways to add pops of hot pink to your own home…

1. pillow, Etsy | 2. art, Federico Saenz-Ricio | 3. speaker, Ban.do | 4. lamp, Land of Nod | 5. woven bowl, Lulu & Georgia | 6. rug, Urban Outfitters | 7. chair, Joss and Main

What do you think? Would you ever decorate with hot pink or do you think it’s just too scary? I think it’s so fun.
