Let’s Get Casual: Fall Favorites
Happy first day of fall, you guys! It’s my favorite season. I love the colors, the cozy sweaters and tights (but no winter coats yet!), football games, apple orchards, pumpkin everything, and of course Halloween is the best! And nothing says “first day of fall” like 88 degrees and sunny, right? Ha! (I’m not complaining, though.)
I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things right now…
I have been using the Quiver Sonic Facial Spa by Primal Life Organics for a couple of weeks now and it’s AMAZING. It’s a silicone brush that uses high-frequency sonic vibrations (8500 per minute!) to exfoliate dead skin cells, open up pores and deep clean skin. Lately my skin has been so dry, flaky and dull, between all the sleep deprivation, stress of having a new baby, and getting older (ugh), and I’ve tried a ton of different exfoliation methods and moisturizers that didn’t help. The first time I used the Quiver, I could literally see the dead skin peeling off, but in a completely gentle way that didn’t upset my sensitive skin. It also allows my moisturizer to soak in better because my face is cleaner and my pores more open. I use the Quiver every day now in the shower, and my skin has never been softer. I love that the Quiver is waterproof, has 15 different speeds for different skin types, charges with a USB charger for 200+ uses, and that Primal Life Organics is headquartered in Canton, Ohio — shop local! Hm, so my skin looks better… but can we do something about these dark circles under my eyes, ha! (I was not paid to say any of this, promise! Primal Life Organics did provide me with a Quiver to test and review, but all opinions are 100% my own. I really do recommend this product, so check it out!)
As far as I’m concerned leopard-print flats are the perfect neutral, go-with-(almost)-everything shoe, so I bought myself a pair from Gap for my birthday. (And they’re currently on sale!)
I was SO happy to make the switch back to “real” clothes after months of maternity, and I’m loving these Rockstar 24/7 jeans from Old Navy. They’re perfectly stretchy and comfy for running around after two little kids all day, but also make me feel like I put in a little effort to get dressed instead of just wearing pjs all the time. Plus, they don’t stretch out and give me saggy bum, phew.
I’m also living in this slouchy varsity-style sweater from Target right now … um, yeah, despite the fact that it’s been in the high 80s. What can I say, I like wearing sweaters. I got a red/blue color that I don’t see online, and it has a sporty letter “B” — is it for Bindernagel?! Is it for Burritos and Bubbly?! Either way it’s perfect!
OK, we don’t actually own this doormat (by Fox and Clover Boutique, via The Inspired Room), but I had to laugh out loud when I saw it. It’s adorable and perfect for us, since our goldendoodle Ruby is the first one to welcome every visitor! (With barks and jumps and licks and every annoying dog habit there is.)
I’m in love with the quirky, retro house tour of stylist Shirley Kurata on Refinery 29. I like how it’s so full of color and fun details, but it’s still uncluttered and fairly minimal.
We’ve been indulging in ALL the pumpkin-y things lately (except neither of us has ever had a pumpkin spice latte, can you believe that? Are they any good for real? Like, for people who only drink coffee drinks that don’t taste like coffee?) Anyway, last week I made these pumpkin cupcakes/muffins from Sally’s Baking Addiction, and they were super delicious. I’m definitely going to be making these again soon and I want to try them with cream cheese frosting, mmm.
So what’s your favorite thing about fall? Do you have any good pumpkin recipes we should try? And tell me, is that PSL really worth all the hype?
