Room of the week: modernism
This room by architect firm Gray Organschi takes my breath away. I’m not normally a minimalist. Usually I like rooms that are quirky and colorful, with a sense of personality and comfy chairs. Stark, empty rooms normally leave me cold and bored. But this one. Oh, this one. There’s nothing stark or cold here. The warm wood covering floor to ceiling and everything in between is so inviting and comfortable, in contrast to the cool grey concrete fireplace. But really, it’s all about the lights. The curves of the pendant lights amongst all the sharp angles of wood and concrete are what make this room, well, I almost want to use the word “sexy,” but I’ve never said that word before and it feels so horribly awkward. But, you know, it’s good. This room is very good. What do you think? { photo from desire to inspire }
